Drum Roll Please!!!

Today the children presented their powerpoint presentations on an endangered animal of their choice. Wow! They did a fantastic job! They incoroporated lots of fun special effects that made them interesting to watch. Each child took a turn presenting his/her powerpoint on the Promethean Board. The children even proudly applauded their peers for a job well done.  It was very sweet to watch.  After all of the presentations, the class voted on which animal we should adopt. Index cards were passed out to the children. Each child wrote down two animals that they wanted the class to adopt. All of the index cards were collect and we charted the results.
And the winner was... the Duck-billed Platypus

I made a donation to the World Wildlife Federation on behalf of class 4-2. Now we can't wait to receive our adoption certificate and stuffed animal. Now the children can't wait to receive the adorable Duck-billed Platypus stuffed animal.  Isn't it so cute!

Check out the beautiful bulletin board that was created with the help of a fellow teacher.

Kudos to a job well done!

Is it me???

Well, I thought by packing it in yesterday that would be the end of my "computer woes".  Boy, was I wrong!  When I got home I decided to work on my blog.  I noticed the computer was really slow and certain pictures weren't appearing, but I didn't think much of it.  Until... my computer flashed a blue screen with words all over it and then it began to reboot.  My troubles didn't end there!  Everytime I tried to reboot it, it would freeze.  So I decided to do a "cleaner" program and it froze again - twice!  As of now it is not looking good for my computer!  Dare I say it... I think my computer may have a virus.  UGH!

Is it me?

Gotta love technology!

The children have been hard at work creating their power points on endangered animals.  They are doing an unbelieveable job!  After four days of hard work and hours spent inputing information and creating slides, several students completely lost everything they worked so hard on.  I felt terrible for them!  They followed all the directions and saved everything properly.  Unfortunately, after seeking help from the Computer Teacher Assistant, they had to start all over- creating new slides.

Then it was my turn for the "computer woes"!  Today I wanted to access all of my students power points to print out the cover slide to create a bulletin board.  And it happened!  I couldn't access any of my students' work through my account.  I mean not one!  I tried everything I could think of, but nothing!  I could see all of my fellow teacher's students and even students from other schools in the district.  But, my students... not one!  Can you say FRUSTRATING!  With that said, I decided it was time to pack it in for the day!  Ahhh... gotta love technology!

Fantastic Fourth Grader... We're making power points!

What are we up to?
The children are working hard on creating a power point on an endangered animal.  First, we visited the World Wildlife Federation website and viewed all the animals that need our help.

Next, the children chose an animal that they wanted to research.  We took out books from our library and used various sites on-line to gather information.  The children recorded the information they learned on index cards.  Now they are turning their index cards into slides to create their very own power point to persuade their peers to vote for their animal.  We are even using the school laptops when the computer room is occupied.  The kids are loving this activity and so am I!

I wonder which animal will win our votes?
